Robert taught Eoghan to fish the summer he was eight, and to name the birds.

Neither of them was any good at the fishing. They sat on the bank of the river below the town on Saturday mornings with two old rods and a tin of worms, and caught almost nothing, and did not mind. The birds were different. Robert knew all of them.
